Mental Health Counseling

“I really love going to the farm it helps my life in so many ways. I suffer from depression and being there a life changer for me. Being in nature, being with wonderful providers that are so compassionate and open. The horses are so wonderful it’s as if looking at them is reaching into my soul. It made me want to live. I can go and experience these wonderful things as I reach out to the horses i am learning about them and myself; being able to be compassionate with them and learning how to be compassionate for them and myself. Being at the farm reminds me of a positive childhood experience I had and it reinforces the good things in life. The people at the farm really make a difference. They encourage me to have hope that I haven’t had for a long time and I want everybody to know how much I appreciate them. Thank you very much.”

“The farm has saved my life. I’ve been close to death so many times in my life from my drinking. I haven’t had a sip of alcohol since coming to the farm because I need to see my friends (the horses and staff) as often as I can. They keep me sober and make me the happiest that I have been in a very long time. This was God’s will for me”

“I am so grateful for having the opportunity to experience the farm before I die. I could have easily died in my life before knowing what it is like to experience the beauty, nature, animals, peace, and quiet out here. I feel like a little kid driving out to the farm staring intently at all of the things I am driving by like the trees, farm fields, and things I have never experienced in my life. There are no police sirens, attacking dogs, gunshots, or yelling. I can’t believe I would have lived the rest of my life not seeing something as amazing as this place.”

“I had a rough week and struggled with depression. Being at the farm lifted my spirits and helped me to be present with my grandchildren. Just know that you are not only helping me, but you’re helping future generations through the work that we are doing together.”

“God so graciously led our family to you and we are incredibly grateful. To quote our counselor, "We are turning around a cruise ship not a speed boat". That's a big job and yet we have all seen that cruise ship begin to turn; it brings encouragement. Because of the in home presence we were able to receive crisis intervention during a stressful episode; that was a pivotal moment for all of us. Our Counselor has been a bright spot, bringing happiness and laughter in the midst of heavy "stuff " and she has connected on a personal level with each one of our kids. The therapeutic benefit of interaction with animals and nature at the farm has been especially evident with our daughter. I, too, have enjoyed some moments of external peace watching the horses and listening to the grasshoppers. We are excited to continue to work on meeting family goals and to learn how to correctly respond rather than react to issues that come up. Thank you for caring and investing time in helping us enjoy being a family again, one moment at a time. “

“I finally feel like I am healing. I wouldn’t be at this point without the help of the therapists at the farm”

Supportive Home Care

“I recently spent 3 weeks in Milwaukee, trying to help my brother, right after he was told he had weeks to live if he could not continue chemo. He was very weak, ill and in great pain. While trying to provide love, hope, meals, cleaning, care and support -- I was also dealing with -- organizations, forms, rules, regulations, phone contacts, deadlines, and assessments. We were both exhausted and then discouraged when we were told it would take weeks to two months for help and services to be put in place. Then, Deb Binder of Home Health Managers walked into our lives. Wow, with her compassion, energy, life experiences (especially with cancer), and her "yes we can and we will do this" attitude bubbling over, we again had hope. She sorted through all my contacts and added hers. When told weeks to 60 days (for assistance), she said unacceptable and worked endlessly to learn where and how to get things done. In 10 days, the needed services were in place, or about to be.

My brother continues his cancer battle and chemo. Angels among us -- you bet -- one is named Deb Binder!”

“I've worked with Deb's company for years and, recently widowed, needed hip replacement surgery. I called Deb and she sent a wonderful employee from Home Health Managers. She was able to run errands for me, do shopping and simply stay with me in my condo while I was showering, just in case I needed assistance. They helped me for several weeks until I was up and on my feet again. It made all of the difference in my being able to recover at home and helped me avoid staying in a rehab facility for a longer period.”

“After several brain surgeries and a few rounds of chemo, I was ordered to undergo yet another round of chemo for a metastasized second cancer. Living alone has had it's challenges! Not only did Home Health Managers organize my whole condo, which given my illness has been neglected for some time, but they were able to refill and pick up my prescriptions, run errands and buy the healthy and tasty food I needed to eat after my next chemo session. They also took me to my chemo appointments and waited until I was finished to take me home. After a bad reaction to one of my medications, Home health managers stayed with me, called my nurse and waited until my family could arrive to spend the night. My Care Manager was friendly, competent and I felt comfortable having her in my home and placing my care in her hands.”

“After being diagnosed with invasive ductile cancer which had spread to my lymph nodes, I underwent a mastectomy, had all of my lymph nodes on that side removed and needed chemotherapy and radiation after my surgery had healed. I was very aware that I would need help during this long process and thanks to Home Health Managers, I was able to get assistance with transportation to my appointments and treatments, with shopping and meal preparation, assistance with showering during my weakened condition during chemo, as well as with running errands and helping with my dog. It was a devastating and exhausting time and I simply couldn't have done it alone. They also cleaned, did laundry and ran to get my many prescriptions, which seemed to be constantly changing to help control my nausea. They kept the house maintained and well kept during my treatment, as well. Basically, they did everything! I'm sure my recovery was assisted and sped up because I didn't need to worry about anything besides getting well.”

“I want you to know we really appreciated your care of both of us; the first month I thought "this is too good to last"! I couldn't believe you could find a way to work with me and create such a flexible schedule. I will continue to recommend you; your clients all have benefited. Again, many thanks and our best to you and our former caregivers.”
